Wheres the best place to mount an exteral antenna?

I have purchased a Garmin 172C w/the external antenna. Unlike a prom queen; I've no idea where to mount the antenna... Any suggestions? Jax Post Script: While we're at it; any thoughts on where to install/mount the unit? j

Stern railing

Mounted mine to the stern railing, ran the cable thru the blower intake(starboard side).
