Where to tie off headsail halyard

Just bought an Oday 240, and am new to sailing. I'm getting ready to raise my jib on it's roller furling, but I can't find any place to secure my jib halyard after it is raised. I can't find any cleat on the mast, or any other place near the mast to tie it off. Where/how should I secure it? Thanks,Christian

Christian - I have an O'Day 23 so am not familiar with your boat. I have a two cleats one on each side of the mast; One is for the main and the other for the jib. Are there any visible signs of a cleat on the mast? screw holes or an area which has not been aged by corrosion which looks like the shape of a cleat? If you do not have a cleat then perhaps the previous owner did a modification for the halyards to run to the cockpit so that they could singlehand the boat more easily - this is a common modification so I'd suggest looking for some turning blocks and a jam cleat or something in the cockpit area.Hope this helps James

roller furling jib

Christian,I too am new to sailing with an O'Day 23. On my roller furler there are small cleats on the roller furling unit just above the drum. I don't think you can run the halyard to the mast because then the top of the sail couldn't spin to be furled/unfurled. Again the disclaimer: I'm a newbie.

the 240 was built with a CDI furler. they still exist http://www.sailcdi.com/you probably have an ff2. all of the instructions are at the website.
