Gee William, Did you just move to Indiana?

They have state parks there and some of them have lakes. http://www.indianaoutfitters.com/statemap.html

Good choices

I think you're probably closest to Brookville, but Lake Monroe and Patoka, though further away, are much bigger lakes. All have active sailing clubs too.

Lake Monroe

Though I no longer live in Indiana I can recommend that you get your boat over to Lake Monroe and enjoy the wind over there. Lots of sailing going on there and a really nice lake to view while you are sailing. Tip: Be sure to pull the tail, off your winch, slightly up from the winch or you will run the risk of a rope jam on the winch. Enjoy your new yacht.

Kokomo Beach
Indiana Lakes Maxinkuckee, Wawasee, Bruce...

If you're interested in lakes in Northern Indiana, take a look at the above three. Lots of sailing there. (A bit far from Aurora though.) Three Other choices are Eagle Creek, Geist, and Morse Reseravoirs -- all on Indianapolis' north side. And of course, there's Lake Michigan...

Oh No, Not Monroe!

I live in Indy. We drive to Brookville every weekend, during the season. Monroe has too much powerboat traffic. And the boaters all drunk and 16. LOL If the wind is up, they head for the dock, but in lite air you will bounce around like a cork, all day. Recommendations for you would be. Brookville. Put in at the Hanna Creek sailboat marina. All sailboats and plenty of helpful sailors available to help a noob. I had a Mac 1984 25 and have seen several 22's. You can reach Hanna Creek via hwy 101 out of Brookville. Or stop at the Mounds Recreation office, also on 101, for directions. Wish I lived as close as you do.
