Where to put the dingy motor

I am not sure where to mount my dingy motor. It is a 2hp (so it is small and light). We have a new style Hunter 33. We looked at the typical rail mounts but they did not seem to work due to the curves in the taffrail seats. Any ideas or recommendations? Any advice is appreciated. Thanks.

Benny's wouldn't work

Benny's wouldn't work on the new H33 there is not enough straight rail. I have a 2hp Honda and it sits on the port side locker shelf with a couple of tie downs. Out of sight and not in the way when sailing hard.

Outboard Mount

I have been able to stow my 2 hp 4 stroke outboard vertically in the port lazarette. (1986 H31) It stands on the pan in the bottom and I have glassed a bracket on to the top of the ice box on to which the motor mount sits. It is a tight fit through the opening but works. The o/b is out of the way of prying eyes and covered from the weather. If you wish I can take photos and send them on.

Locating motor mount on new H33

Andy, We have had our new H33 for two and a half years and went through your issue this last spring. Prior to this spring, I had an inflatable that I rowed. We now tow a Walker Bay 8 w/RID tubes and carry a Suzuki 2.5 on the rail. We bought one of the brown plastic motor mounts that splits in half and bolts over a rail. We placed it on the port side taftrail up against the arch. The mount was meant to go over a vertical rail as well, but we have none so the mount can rotate. When we place the outboard on it, we put a bungee cord around the lower unit and the lower rail. The motor's skeg is an inch or two above the gelcoat. If we go out without the dinghy, we leave the outboard at the marina as well. This gives us less stern weight and better sitting room on the port seat. HTH, Barry Bear Necessity H33 #28

Thank you

Thank you all for your ideas. I think I am going to try and copy Michael Stacy's version. I like the idea of facing the motor forward (never thought of such an obivous thing). Funny the differences in 33s. I got mine in aug 04. Mine has canvas pulls vice metal supports for the bimini backstay... Again, thank you
