I am going to put a solar charger on my O'day 25 and am having a hard time deciding where to install it. I would like it out of the way as to not damage it or take up valuable space on deck. Any input is very much appriciated.

Bimini?

Have a look at the picture in the photo archives of my 2 panels attached atop the bimini. Also check out Gord Perchie's pix as he has created an arch to mount his. I originally had a panel attached across the teak rails ahead of the mast, but I don't like the idea of having the panel exposed to dropped tools (check out the unbreakable flexi-panels) on the deck. There are rail mounts available from SS fabricating shops, alternate energy shops, or homebuilt that could be added to the pushpit rail. Not a lot of room on deck of our 25's, I know. Don

solar panel

On my O"Day 26 I made a board out of mahagony that would fit between the seats at the very back of the cockpit and under the tiller. The solar cell got mounted to the board. A waterproof plug goes through the fiberglass under the board to run the wires, and it makes the solar panel removable. Make the board stout enough, and it can be used for additional seating.
