Wondering where I might put a generator (and what size) in my 05 Oceanis 373 to run the A/C and/or charge batteries. Anybody have any ideas?

Where ever you place it you can be sure that it throw off he balance of your boat and create a heel. That will affect how you boat sails on different tacks. And it will probably put your boat bow high, which affects your ability to point. I have a NexGen 5.5 and it a well designed generator with the great Kubota diesel as the powerplant, very compact and if you have an enclosure, suitably quiet.

Frankly the 37 is small for a gen install, and the state of power generation has changed radically with better and cheaper solar options, and inverters. The gen set pretty much comes down to A/C on anchor and that is a lot of money to spend for A/C. But, if I were going to do it again, I would go NexGen.

Understood. I already have the light bow issue with my dinghy up on the arch. I figure I need to add some weight up there other than the chain.
I thought perhaps solar was getting better and maybe Tesla will make a battery for boats.

Saw a 373 that had a genset mounted in the Stbd lazerette.
Don't know how it affected balance & sailing ability.

I am thinking of a Honda 2k and smart start for the a\c at anchor. Not sure where to store it - as much forward as possible perhaps. Just bring it out and lash to the back step when anchored?

I have a 393, only a 2 ft step up from yours. My genset is in the sail locker accessible from the cockpit. On my boat, it's on the port side. The genset is a 4k Fischer Panda.

The list to port is not much affected, that I can tell. It may affect it, but I think it's negligible. The FP is light for its output, but other gensets could be considered too.

A 4k is enough to run the AC and charge batteries.
