I have a 1995 Hunter 26 that I am installing a freshwater tank under the v-berth area. I came across a freshwater tank made for the v-berth in great condition for 30.00 so I snatched it up.

Now, I am trying to find the best location to install the deck fill pipe. I'm assuming there is some type of best location to put these. Originally I thought about either in or just behind the anchor locker. I lean towards keeping it out of the anchor locker to reduce the risk of contaminating my freshwater but I've heard of people putting them there to hide them and protect them from UV rays.

Any thoughts or recommendations are appreciated.

Thanks

There's a reason it's called a "DECK fill"

And that's where I'd put it...in a side deck where you can reach it from the dock to stick a hose into it.

Don't forget to vent it too...also out the hull...near the toe rail works.

Because The tank goes below the v-berth and the way the cabin is laid out, I am forced to keep the deck fill forward on the boat. so I guess I'm looking at behind the anchor locker. There are no vertical areas forward to put it except the Hull. And its not called a Hull fill. LOL!

In the anchor locker is a good place if you can route your lines. Don't forget you also need a vent line.

Oh for pete's sake!

Where would you put the deck pumpout fitting if the tank were a waste tank?

'Cuz that's where the deck fill for the water tank should go. There are LOTS of waste tanks under v-berths (including my own!), and they all (except those installed by totally clueless owners) have deck pumpout fittings.

In both cases, keep in mind that the deck fitting really should be accessible from the dock. However, that's not absolutely esssential. The pumpout fitting on my own last boat wasn't...I had to have someone pass the pumpout hose to me on the foredeck. No reason why a water hose can't be passed up to someone.

The fresh water filler on my H260 is forward of the anchor locker, right in the very tip of the bow.
