MY WIFE AND I JUST PURCHASED A 1984 CATALINA 30. WE ARE HAVING A GREAT TIME! WE WANT TO PUT UP SOME CURTAINS AND A CARPET BUT FIND THE NORMAL STORES LIKE BOAT U.S. AND WESTMARINA TO BE VERY LIMITED AND AT THE SAME TIME VERY EXPENSIVE! OTHER THEN MAKING IT OURSELFS, WHICH WASN'T IN THE HUSBAND AND WIFE AGREEMENT, WE ARE KIND OF AT A STAND STILL. ANY HELP BY MY NEW BROTHERS AND SISTERS WOULD BE VERY MUCH APPRECIATED. Catalina or Catalina Direct

Catalina parts or Catalina Direct will have the foldable window covers that will fit your boat and look better than curtains. Why would you want carpeting in the boat? I find it a nuisance, my wife put a 2X4 carpet on our new boat and the rubber backing came off the carpet and stuck to the floor, took an hour to get it off! Forgitaboutit!

For carpet, you might want to try your local

(non-boating) floor covering emporiums. If your boat has old carpet, most places are happy to make new using your old one as a pattern. A lot of these places are quite familiar with boats and will help you choose a suitable carpet. Curtains are another matter. There's lots of boating sites on the internet that can point you in the general direction. Again, if you have old curtains that can be used as a pattern, it's not too hard to make 'em yourself.

Outlet store

We had a 1988 Catalina 30 that we bought new and kept for 10 years. Loved that boat! The carpet did need replacement every few years. We went to a carpet outlet store (most carpet is made here in Dalton, Ga) and bought a large leftover piece. Using the original carpet as a guide, we cut our own. Berber looked good. I'd go to Catalina for window shades, not curtains. We now have a 1995 Catalina MKII 36. Gloria

peek a boo

have you seen port shutters such as teh ones found at this site: http://www.sail2000.com/s2k/Peek%20a%20Booo/Peek-a-Booo.html they are a plastic shutter that won't get mildew, won't fade with the sun and eventuall rot like fabric cutains will. while fabric curtains will look "homier", these are more effecient and much easier to clean. now the interesting part: i've looked at these for a couple years for my boat (C30 1985) and they are kinda pricey. a friend of mine went to the boat show with me this winter. he happens to own a graphics printing place. he then said. i do screen printing on plastic all the time, i can make these for you. since he is a crew member, i don't expect to pay for them. if they turn out ok, he might be able to make a set for your boat. obviously, the pattern would be identical to mine. shoot me an email at business_man11@yahoo.com jim
