Where to buy that new boat?

I bought my first boat at a local show and now that I'm preparing to buy my next boat, I'm wondering where will I be in a better position to negotiate a good deal? At the US Sailboat Show in Annapolis or at my local dealer? Do manufacturers have special incentives at the shows or do they allow the local dealers to offer the same?

I've done my homework and know the entire debate between buying new and pre-owned, so let's keep in mind that this is not the intent of this thread.

Responses from new boat buyers would be appreciated.

One thing you may want to think about. There are dealers who have brand new boats that are a year old or more. They are paying interest on their floor plan, and you can get a brand new 1 or 2 year old boat with the full factory warranty at a substantial savings.

Just a thought

That is certainly an option if there is a substantial saving over a custom ordered boat outfitted just the way I want it. Is there any concern for a boat sitting on the hard for that period of time?
