Where are molded tanks available, and if one is not available for my boat model, are plastic welded tanks recommended? Thanks.

Ronco Plastics is by far the best source

They make TOP quality (50% thicker than any OEM or most tanks for any other mfr) rotomolded tanks for a very reasonable price (even more reasonable if you order it through this site) and have more than 400 shapes sizes, including over 100 non-rectangular...and they install fittings in the sizes and locations specified by the customer when they make the tank. Their catalog is on the web: Ronco Plastics

I don't recommend Duraweld or Kracor. Their prices are high, their quality is nowhere near that of Ronco.

The quality/durability of a welded plastic tank is only as good as the welds...which depends on the skill of the welder. You'll get a good quality tank from Triple M Plastics Triple M Plastic Products Inc , but any one-custom welded tank is gonna cost you more than twice the price of a rotomolded tank for which the mold already exists.

If you'd like some help spec'ing out a new system, give me a shout via email...meanwhile, you might want spend some time reading some of the discussions on tank replacement in this forum.

Thanks for the info. The last time we replaced a tank we did contact Ronco, and they had no mold for this tank and wanted a king's ransom just to make the mold using the old tank as a template. So we went with the original aluminum replacement. Well, this time I guess we gotta spring for the mold fee if they still don't have one.

I guess finding a new location for the tank...

...that we can find a Ronco tank to fit is out of the question? I'll be glad to help you do that.

Claude,

Do not listen to the head mistress, some of us are just getting into this problem and need the web sites to help us along. This type of issue is on going and recurring.

Some of us even start with a book titled, "Get Rid of Boat Odors" before we wade into all the posts on this site. Imagine that!

It is really too bad that a bunch of you 40.5 owners have not gotten together and had Ronco make a mold for our tank. It seems like so many have had tank issues and there are few options. (think!)

If we had only known, Steve, if we had only known...

But, the outfit we have been getting them from had been wonderful to work with and very fair price wise, so we didn't lose much.

Now, if you could just figure out what all you Vision 36 guys will need, you could stage it in advance and get a group discount! ;-)))
