For my Catalina 34 I went with UK Halsey and had excellent results.
When we bought our 2008 Hunter 38 it came with UK Halsey too. Happy with them too.

One thing I did learn through my experience and watching the folks in next slip is work with someone who is local. I dealt with a UK Halsey rep who has boat in our marina. He took care of all measurements, picked up the old sails to use as guides, returned old and new right to the boat, installed new and checked for fit and all in all made my life very easy.

Guy next door went with a mail order deal who used a loft in China to save a few bucks. OK maybe more than a few because it is a 44 foot boat. No help, no support, head sail came with wrong color sunbrella and was too big. Main was cut too long as well. Had to send the whole mess back to China to be recut and redone. And he had no local support. All in all I don't think he actually saved any money when it was all done, and that was before the lost sailing days and the aggregation toll.

Sort of need more information. What type of boat? Also brand? How new is your present sail? Why is your present main sail giving you fits?

The reason I ask is that I had problems with my main sail on a brand new Hunter. The dealer basically thought I didn't know how to unfurl and furl my sail. After a time it was found out that Doyle had problems with some of their furling main sails. I shipped the sail back to them in Florida where it was recut and shipped back to me--all of this at their costs, not mine. The main sail works well now and I like the sail.

Once we ascertain the brand and year of your boat and who made your main sail, we can work from there. Good luck.

I have a Hunter Passage 420, age 13 years. The old sail has stretched/bulged and 99% of the time has a problem in being re-furled in mast.

I just went through this site (they hooked me up with a local loft) and got a new Doyle main sail made from Marblehead Dacron. Full battens and couldn't be happier. Glad I didn't try to save money and buy used. Huge improvement in speed and reduced healing.

I highly recommend you form a relationship with a local loft who does repairs and buy from them.
