My 1990 Hunter 33.5 uses blocks at the base of the mast. I need to add a couple blocks but cannot find any like it in the usual places. The Block shown is about 2.5 inches diameter. The length of the 3/8 inch stud is 1 inch. Attached is a picture; any ideas?

What's magic about the stud?

That is an unusual configuration. What is magic about using the stud and nut to connect the block to the base of the mast? Most blocks used at that location use some sort of shackle to attach the block to the tabernacle at the base of the mast. Maybe you can use a "regular" block (widely available) and shackle through the same hole that the stud/bolt went through. Good Luck! Tim Brogan April IV C350 #68 Seattle

US Spars carries them...

I've got the same blocks on my 340 and got a replacement one from usspars.com. It's the US division of Z-Spars who probably built your mast. You might also be able to get them from Hunter directly. Edit: I've also tried using an eyebolt with a nut and then attaching a normal bock with a shackle but the eyebolt decided to unbend itself under load. Pretty scary. On mine at least you can't fit a shackle through the hole in the maststep so you kinda need to get the special block.

Rig-rite has many of these parts.

Ken: Rig-rite has many of these parts. If they do not, call Bill at Garhauer and ask him if he can make you up some. www.garhauermarine.com www.rigrite.com

Blocks

Hi Ken Had the same blocks on INNOVATOR, just the next size 3" The blocks I had were stamped with ZSPARS name, I believe they are up and running again in the states, a Google search would poss. find them. The $10 price on e-bay sounds good Oh if the rendezvous is now fixed for Sodus Bay do you think RCR could put it in their weekly newsletter. Tony

Thanks to all.

I followed the lead to the US Spars web site. I found exactly what I need for $40. Can you believe $11.59 UPS Ground shipping charge ? *o I ordered one after looking first at E-Bay. I'll keep my eye on them for future buys. Tony. Yes, the LOHSA U.S. Rendezvous date has been changed to August 12-14 at Sodus Bay. We are waiting conformation from SBYC and have New Horizons Marina as a back-up. Check the website at http://www.lohsa.com. I will have RCR post in their newsletter.
