I'm looking at an H25.5 that will not come with a trailer or cradle, so I have to factor that purchase into the deal. Anyone have any recommendations on a trailer manufacturer? Hunter wasn't particularly helpful. Also, I've never trailed a boat with a fixed keel (shoal draft 39"). They seem to sit pretty high. Can this really be done safely? Regards, Tom Carlyle Lake

Trailering Considerations

When looking for a trailer the biggest Question is new or used. If you want a new trailer there are companies out there that can fabricate a trailer for your boat. I believe the trailer that I have for my Hunter 22 is made by Magic Tilt Trailers. If you decide to go used, you have options here. If you can find a good welder you can design the cradle for your trailer. I helped a friend of mine (he is a welder) build an intereting trailer for a Pace Ship 23. It was no more than a flat bed trailer with a moving cradle. The cradle for the boat could be extended back so that the boat could be floated onto the trailer. It worked pretty good. One last thought. Are you going to have enough water at the ramps that you are going to to launch your boat?

Loadmaster Trailers

I think the name is loadmaster and I use it to tow a 34' hunter. It is about 3 years old. They can build to your specs or the may already have one built for a boat of your size. I will try to find their phone number. Tim Welsh

Several problems with that trailer. It is not galvanized. You only need two axles with brakes on both. YOu do not want a goose neck. You will want an extension and if going into salt water, you want the hub wash outs. I suggest the bunks and get the plastic covers versus carpeting on the bunk boards. Majic Tilt builds trailers for Hunter. Additionally, Performance has also built trailers for many sailboat companies to include some for Hunter. Ron Frisosky went to Larry and Phyllis with Performance to build sailboat trailers many years ago. Larry sold his share of Performance and now builds sailboat trailers under the name Road King. You may want to go to the web and check them out or you may contact me and I will put you to a dealer close to you. If you decide on Magic Tilt, see if Phil Herring in the Chandlrey can help you.
