Been here 1 year and love the location, people are great and have always ( 25 yrs. ++ ) loved being in this area. Easy access to a good supply of wind and 100's of great anchorages within a couple of hours or keep cruising for weeks. Downside, it's 2 hours away so limits it to weekends and weeks only. Upside... see above. I'd rather be here than any of the other Great Lakes which the closest is 45 min. away.

Holiday Harbor, sub-lessee for Carillo Beach Marina, owned by the City of Los Angeles. Year round double finger slips with water and power. Excellent facilities for boat owners and no public facilities (read no wanna be's) to worry about. 15 Minutes from Angels Gate, 40 minutes inside the federal breakwater to Queen Mary, and 19 nm to Isthmus Cove / Two Harbors on Catalina Island. In the driveway,

33degrees54'22.16"n, 118degrees08'21.56"w, we tell people it's the house with the boat in the driveway, can't miss it. I guess it does hang into the neighbor's yard a little :) Tim

in Port Richey, FL Great staff, very safe. Half the police dept has their boats there. I'm always ready to go. Protected marina the basin is a hurricaine hole when needed. It's going to be 80 today with light winds time to go. Got to throw the lines off be back at the dock tomarrow. Only draw back is I have to go with in 2 hours of high tide to keep from bumping the bottom. Only place I would consider moving to is Boca Ciega Bay in St Pete no tidal worries but a much longer drive.

Great Place Year round

Nice location only 1 1/2 hours away from home and 45 minutes from work. It is river sailing but great places to hangout for the weekend with friends and get away from preasures from work and get some aquatherapy. Sometime you can even sail backwards. Two or three trips a year to the bay for get aways. Latitude: 38 10' 58.9" N Longitude: 121 39' 23.1" W Carl S/V Moonglow

I only hope she is still there !

Imagine having your boat moored on the otherside of the world. It takes thirty seven hours travelling, four diferent flights and a ferry ride to get to our lady. It's moored in the Bahamas, we live 'down-under'in New Zealand. Fortunately we have a wonderfull caretaker who opens her up and checks her regularly. I have often wondered how long it would take to notify us if something untoward happened. We often do a GoogleEarth searth just to veiw her but I suspect some of the images are not current. We try and spend ay least six months a year on her and once talked to a friend voicing my concerns about her going missing or being badly damaged, his reply was classic, " it will only be a problem Dave when they stop making boats ", food for thought!
