Shut Off Valve?

The only shut off valve I know of on my '77 Cat 30 is the "universal" drain valve. That is located directly under the galley sink, but takes some gymnastics to open and close. My valve drains the galley and head sinks and also the ice box I believe. Best to close it at the dock to avoid unpleasant leaks.

drain for ice box

I think the ice box just drains into the bilge at least mine does . I do not have any valve at all.If you take out the drawers under the companion way in the aft. galley you can access the bottom of the ice box. I did not like the drain to the bilge so I got a used plastic slurpy bladder from 7-11 and connected the hose to it and it is now easy to remove and drain I also have a thru hall down by the gas tank in the starboard aft bunk ,mine has been closed off and sealed but I often wandered if this was origionally used for the ice box

There is no valve...

I have a standard C#), circa 1986. The ice box has a simple polyurethane drain tube C-clamped to the drain fitting that runs into the bidge. There is no valve. Why would you want one?

I just want to trace it and find out if...

it's responsible for some of the water accumulating in the bilge or if it drains into the sea via the sink drain -- at least this is what prior posts have implied. Where exactly does the polyurethane hose end? Thx, -Chuck

It drains into the bilge

Ice box drains into the bilge. Sailing in the Chesapeake Bay and brackish waters of the James River, I welcome the fresh water going through the bilge pump.Never much bilge accumulation due to melting ice unless on board for several days.
