Nick, the filter should be in the same compartment as the compressor. On the 38 the compressor/heat pump/blower fan are all a combined unit mounted in the forward settee for the dinette area. A louvered panel allows cabin air to enter the settee and then pass through a filter material enroute to the compressor coils and the blower fan which pushes the conditioned air through the duct work.The filter is really a simple piece of material that slides into a track and is easily removable for cleaning.
