My Nassaue 34 is an '85 with the old black hoses that do leech an odor, but I am putting off replacing them because it is not too bad and is limited to a locker they pass through that I only open occasionally. When heeled to port I can get slight odors in the cabin, and that bothers me a lot, but I can find no sign of any leaks in the system. All the head hoses and tank are on port side. Once back on her feet evertthing is wonderful. Now, I was getting lake water into a propane locker becasue the vent is under water when heeled to port. That propane locker was over the hoses going into the head tank. If that lake water leaking into my bilge washes over the old black hoses, could it pick up the odor that quickly and be the source of my problem? I have since sealed off the locker, but did so as the boat went on the hard and have not been able to test the results.Another thought I had is that the contents of the tank, when heeled, could be moving into the vent hose and that is where the oder comes from. I cannot locate the vent and suspect it may be vented through a stanchion. I cannot follow the vent hose. Hoses are mounted on the port side of the tank. the tank is mounted on port side, so with a half full tank the contents could move back into those hoses. Replacing the hose to the diverter valve and to the backflow loop is something I will probably do this spring, but to the tank itself will require me to cut out the bottom of the propane locker in order to get to the hose connections at the tank.I could put a new tank under the v berth, which is much closer to the head and cut out the old out of the boat as it is plastic. You are the expert. What would you do? Thanks in advance.
