Where is everyone?

I am sorry what I wrote in my post after reading it sounded critical
of what you are doing and I didn't mean to be. I was mostly thinking
out loud as to my feelings on maintaining my own old boat. I guess
you want to restore your boat which is a fine thing to do and I tend
to want to make my old boat serviceable but in an attempt to keep
her old look and feel. WE are doing different things. Doug

Good advice Doug.

Do you have name etc painted/vinyl stickered on boat?

If so how do you re-attach/re-paint the name after painting?

Thanks

I daw the letters on the boat with a pencil using a ruler for strait
lines and sketch lightly the curves eraceing and re-sketching until
I get nice even and smooth curves like in the letter S . Don't even
try to letter with out a sign painters lettering brush which you can
buy in most art stores. Not a sword looking striping brush, though
they are nice if you want to pinstripe you're antique car. Touch
the brush right next to the metal ferral the long trailing bristles
will follow behind and that will make a sharp clear edge straight
and true. Don't paint with the end of the bristles. This may
sound nuts The sign lettering paint that is the cheapest is the
easiest to use and will last as long as the paint you put on the
hull. My boat is Documented and the lettering is supposed to be, I
think four inches high. The name Sealegs is too long to get letters
that big unless I paint all the way around onto the side of the
boat.. If I had it to do over I would have named her MUM :) . I would
practice on a piece of window glass where you can wipe the paint
off. A fuw blunders will have you painting like an artist. If your
hand is shaky it won't matter as the trailing bristles will drag the
paint behind in a straight line with very little to indicate that
you can't hold you hand still. At some point you will be able to
leave off the sketching with pencil. But that's a ways down the
road. Being a sign painter has more to do with using the right
paint brush and getting a little practice. Doug

Thanks Doug.

Lazy bar steward that I am; I got letters cut from white adhesive vinyl in a fancy cursive font after I got the boat painted 3-4 years ago.

Hi John

I reckon 99% of us do exactly the same. I even have
one of those fancy Vinyl cutters!
