Where is everybody?

Thanks. Perhaps everyone
is in the ice or on holidays. I miss the regular banter that crosses my screen.
As for this part of the world, there is no ice where Lyra is moored. I have had
all my instruments rebuilt by Swoffer in Seattle. Very reasonable. He was able
to find parts for thes 20+ year old knot metre, wind velocity indicator etc. I'm
looking forward to getting out soon. And...I acquired a Loran-C for Lyra. I love
the simplicity and dependability.
Has anyone made their own
sails. Sailrite is a company that sells kit. Looks good and my wife says we can
do it. Cost for a Vega main is less than 500 US...

Cheers

As some of you have discovered, eGroups was taken over by Yahoo

In order to access the new AlbinVega@... site, you must first
register with Yahoo and then convert your account over. All I can
say is have fun. Me...I'm taking my group, the AlbinCruisers List,
to a private hosting site. I received no advance waring of this
change and I doubt your moderators did either. Not a good way to
manage things. Good luck.

Everyone on the AlbinVega list:

Yes, eGroups did merge with Yahoo, and the web site address to access
eGroups functions (such as archived messages, posted files, etc.) now is
accessed through Yahoo! Groups

As moderator of the AlbinVega e-mail list, I do recall getting some
messages from eGroups some time ago that they were merging and that
things would change, but as Tim says here, there was no immediate
warning nor any special instructions for people to switch over.

However, as you may have noticed (everyone on the lists receiving this
message), the e-mail list itself has not changed--and apparently the new
address (shown above) is an automatic replacement for the old address.

As Tim says, you do need to register with Yahoo to access the e-mail web
site to use those other functions. Start at the URL above. I don't
believe it's difficult, however. In my own case, I was already
registered with Yahoo from some other function 6 months ago, and when I
put in my ID and password, Yahoo "linked" me to the eGroups site and I
was able to access the e-mail web site functions with no difficulty.
Unless people start having problems with Yahoo, I'm not concerned about
this switchover. True, there are other places hosting email lists for
sailing groups, but I just don't think it's worthwhile now to make
everyone change over just because of this switch. However, if you do
have problems, please report them here or to Yahoo directly.

Thanks, and fair winds,

dear Tom,

Its regrettable that enveryone is so silent, but in Holland we have to wait
a couple of months before we can start sailing with our Vega, so there is
little to report.

I do receipt all messages from Vega members, as far as I know.
