I have always been a long term dreamer/planner, but in 2007 I suffered total vestibular dysfunction from an overdose of the antibiotic gentamicin while in a hospital. So I have no balance, but have learned to cope. ODAAT (One Day At A Time) was the name my wife chose for the Panga I rebuilt. I had always wanted a panga after seeing them in Mexico, Central & South America, so needing something to keep me busy after my damage, I found this one on our local fishing forum that had severe damage - like me.
Since the ODAAT is a powerboat, I will share the name of my Cal Cruising 46, "Satori", which is the name given her in 1967 when she was launched by her first owner, Jack Jensen, the founder of Jensen Marine/ Cal Boats. He sold the business and sailed her around the world, returning to Newport Beach, CA where he died at age 53 from a rare blood disease. I bought her in 1982 and still have her at my dock on Bayou Chico, FL. May 17, 2015 will be 33 years of ownership. We cruised from Long Beach, CA in 1988 to 2007 when I was damaged. Those of you familiar with Zen will recognize the name and understand.
