The other day I desided to empty our fresh water tank. I turned on the water in the galley and it started draining down the sink. okay so far. After a while I began to wonder where the water was empting out. I looked every where and I could not see any water coming out any of the abovr water drain holes. Does the sink lines from the galley and head empty out under the water line? I must have drained out 20 plus gallons but could not even see a ripple of water. Help this puzzled Irish Rogue.

If it was my boat I would identify and tag every..

through hull as to its purpose, which is what I've done on our boat. Our galley sink, for example, drains through a through hull below the waterline. Attach to each is a tapered wood plug in the event the through hull fails. Terry

Drain out of thru hull under the sink.

The sink in the Galley drains out below the water line under the sink. The sink in the head drain out on the starboard side just below the holding tank vent (this is assuming that nothing has been modified).

This gets me thinking......

.....Why can't the shower and ice boxes do the same thing? Tim

Tim, Not in Lake Tahoe!

Tim: No need to worry about sink and bilges pumping overboard. It is not legal in Tahoe anyway.

Unless I'm mistaken.......

.........Lake Tahoe is a Federal No Discharge zone and the below would apply. Please correct me if I am wrong. BTW, I've never used the shower on my boat. A nice morning swim in the crystal clear waters serves my purposes of staying non-funky and wakes me up at the same time. "Grey water is the water discharging from your sink and shower, while black water is the sewage/water discharging from a toilet. In the United States, there are no federal requirements for the containment of grey water." In addition to that I ALWAYS make sure that I am at least three miles offshore before emptying my holding tank. Tim
