I have a 1978 Catalina 30. The head sink does not drain very well, and when I follow the sink drain tubing/hose, it appears to go eventually under the counter in the galley, to a location behind my Yanmar engine where I can't see it very well. Perhaps it tees up with the drain hose from the galley sink? And then where does it go to? It looks like there might be a valve and a through-hull?? I thought it simply drained into the bilge. If there's really a through-hull valve there for the sink drain, it's presumably been open for about 28 years... If this is really the case, I'd like to replace it or close it off completely, but it doesn't seem like there's any way to access it without major surgery to the galley... Can anyone comment on any of this? Thanks.
