1984 H27 deck drains are toast. Saw original post from 2003 that is now closed. No one mentioned where to get replacements. Wondering if a guy could pick up stainless drains??? These types of parts model specific or fairly universal?

If you mean the drains in the cockpit on my 1978 H-27 they were bronze fittings with a stainless cover grill that are pretty standard units that you can get from West Marine or Defender or probably on line. On my 1983 the deck drains are glassed into the deck so I don't think you can replace them.

If you only need the stainless cover I think you can get a replacement by surfing the net.....

Hope this helps.

These are above the waterline so you can get plastic fittings, a piece of hose, clamps and a sealer and replace both in a about 1/2 hour. Well take that back when working on a boat it could take 2 hours.

Thanks all! Now I just have to figure out if I want the screens or just have them open. The only reason I consider the screen is because the water runs down deck (port and starboard) and down deck drain, into hose, then into 90 degree elbow befroe exiting the thru hull. Screen may keep that elbow clean of debris??? Oh well, I will just be happy to find a replacement. Thanks for the link. I'm gonna measure tomorrow and get some ordered. Might as well do the ones in the cockpit as well. Looks like I only have two in the rear of the cockpit.

Thanks again,
JB

Is this what you are looking for?

http://www.gandermountain.com/modpe...content_goobasecontent_filler&cID=GSHOP_82690

These are available at WM or most any marine supply outlet. Forespar also makes them too. I do not see any reason to use metal ones but you may be able to find them too.

Another opinion: http://www.westsail42.com/2006/08/cockpit-drain-replacement.html
Looks like I have a couple of winners here! I just need to figure out which size I need.

Thanks,
JB

Ok, so I have my deck drains (west marine) and my 4200. They recommend adding 4200 to the threads to secure the nut. Anyone see any problems with this?

that would be secure, and it will never come off, ever.... Just 4200 around the flange and let the back of the nut squeeze a little out under it, you don't need it on the threads too.

Better yet, use 4000 UV and it'll hold up better to UV, and be easier to replace if you ever need to again.

Copy! Do I put just a bead around the flange or apply generously and wipe off excess????

enough of a bead that you want it to squeeze out a little, but not so much that cleanup is a pain.

Also I prefer 4000 UV over 4200 for most deck installations (when I'm not using buytl) as it's rated for installation in direct sunlight (UV stands for UV stable), and similar in strength rating to 4200.
