Where do I get the rope and wire and hardware for the retractable keel that hooks to the bottom of the keel? The rope is about to break and it looks like it is whipped to the cabling and then attached with some sort of u joint to the trailing edge of the keel. Can't get it out of the water. Anyone know where to get the line and attachment?

Anyplace

This is not specialized hardware. It's just a simple rope to wire splice. Although Rudy should have it, you can have this made up by any decent rigger or even places like west marine or boat us. Russ

cheap

I have an OD25 whose rope/wire cb halyard broke. I replaced it with a 3/8 pre-spliced dock line that cost about $6.99. I got the 15 ft line with a loop spliced into the end and it's been working great. Just loop the line through itself around the metal attachment point and pull the free end up through the hole with a piece of mechanics wire...or go pay out the !#!* for the rope/metal combo which does the same job! Hope this helps!!! Happy sailing

Rope or rope wire combo?

I'm see you got some responses to your question so maybe you can answer one for me. I had a 1980 25' where the entire leash was made of rope so I assumed that was the standard. I recently purchased a 1977 25' and it's the rope wire combo. I know the leash was changed on the 1980. So the question: can you replace the rope wire combo with the rope only leash even though it may not be as effecient aerodynamicaly? email: relsom@icehouse.net
