where do I find hull numbers ...

can anyone tell me where to find a hull number for a pre 72 31 ft Irwin ..I am trying to track the history of a boat I am working on ..thanks jd

The only place that

you can hope to find the numbers that you want will be on the manufacturers plate somewhere inside the boat. HIN's didn't come into use until (i think ) the fall of '73.

Don't know if this will help but, on an Irwin 34 I found the hull number in two places...one is on the outer stern and the another is inside the transom compartment just below deck level. I stumbled across it while replacing a rudder brace. It is impossible to see that number unless you get into the compartment or you can try using a mirror if you can read upside-down and backwards Good luck.
