I have a C22. I went out last weekend but had trouble launching and retrieving my boat in Washington, NC. I was able to launch when the trailer went into a hole caused by the prop wash on power boats driving on trailers. I had a 4WD truck that was able to get the empty trailer out of the hole. That was at McCotter's Marina. Someone with local knowledge suggested Dinah's Landing at near Goose Creek park but the ramp was too short. I called in a favor to use Washington Country Club's ramp but that option is not readily available. Can anyone recommend a good ramp in the Washington, Oriental or New Bern areas?

Thanks

Thanks Jack. I'll check out your references.

I went to the Tar River Power Squadron meeting last night and someone specifically recommended the ramp at Twin Lakes Campgroud in Chocowinity which is across the river from Washington's waterfront and the ramp at the marina next to the bridge in Bath. I can't remember the name of the marina, but Bath is tiny so it will be easy to find.

He said that the Twin Lakes ramp is steep which is good for me. The channel to the river is narrow and requires motoring.

Oriental wildlife ramp...

...is nice and has floating docks. Used primarily by sailboaters. The powerboaters that are there seem to understand it is a sailors hole, and have always been patient and nice in my experience.

I checked out the NC Wildlife ramp in Oriental on Saturday. It's very nice. I also checked out the ramp at Twin Lakes Campground in Chocowinity. They allow the public to use the ramp for $5 but the parking for vehicles with trailers is limited. I am going to use the Twin Lakes ramp on Thursday and take advantage of the free dock on the Washington NC waterfront for a few days. I plan to retrieve the boat on Monday or Tuesday.

A good ramp with dock at Aurora,NC in Beaufort County, no charge. Disadvantage, it is a couple of miles from the Pamilico River but good protected area. Never had trouble there with my C-22. WOULD YOU be interested in racing at Hancock Yatch Club July 10-11, this is at Cherry Point Marine Base? It is a great regatta, wonderful food. Max Henries
