Where are all the Capri 22 ???

We can account for at least 54 of them (current members here) but there's many hundreds more!!!
Well over a thousand boats!! ...there's a club on the San Francisco bay that has 7 C-22s ...pretty good!
...that makes 61 accounted for.
...hmmm...

There are at least 3 on our lake... a Mod 2, is used by our sail club, non-race package, regular mast, wing keel.

I know there are rental places all over that use the Capri 22 as their "fleet rental."

Using a boat for fleet rental is a huge compliment.... Those boats are usually picked for being easy to sail, easy to get parts, and generally robust for daily use. I forget where I saw it, might have been CA, but a rental fleet of 20 were available.

What I find fascinating is how few of these are raced. Even the standard rig, wing keel is a decent performing boat.

Looks like # 427 ( the one for sale at Chelsea Yacht Club) will be staying a CYC. The owner is all but giving it away. I believe my friend is going to buy it, and sell his O'Day 23.

The Santana 20 website at http://www.s20.org/ has a 'Where Are They Now?' button that enables owners to submit a form to be added to a simple database. I'm not much of a coder, but perhaps one of you guys could knock out something simple that would give this site the same feature.

Yeah, the Capri 25 forum has one of those "where are the owners" and it never worked right, rather it's not worked in years.

I've found that using adhuntr.com (which searches craigslist nationwide) is an easy way to find the lower priced sailboats (that and sailboatlistings)... so finding an inexpensive Capri 22 should be pretty easy.... if you are willing to put in some elbow grease. Its how I found my 2 boats.

I scour it sometimes for various model boats I am interested in, you'd be amazed at what you can find.

My friend Bill, whom I don't think is on this forum, has an '81 Capri 22 in Kamloops BC. I've seen at least 2 other Capri 22's on our lake as well, who don't seem to be on here.

I know this is an older post, but we have 5 in the Candlewood Yacht Club in New Fairfield, CT. i had a 1988 (#440) that I sold to a gentleman in Sherman, CT, still on Candlewood Lake. I replaced it with a 2004 (#1082). We also have #1078 and #1110. There are a couple of others too, but they don't race so I don't know their #s.
