I have a new-to-me 1997 Hunter 23.5 and I am new at this, but I would like to know the typical water level when the water ballast is full? (a measurement from the vent hole to the water line) If the ballast stops filling, should the water be "sloshing" around? or should it be full to within a few inches of the step plate? If it is not full and does not continue to fill, any suggestions? Thanks, Russ

Automatic

There's really nothing for you to adjust when it comes to the water ballast level. Put the boat in the water. Open the flood valve and remove the stopper. The ballast tank will flood to a certain point and stop. Close the flood valve and put the stopper back. That's it. The only way to put more water in is to fill it from the top with a hose or bring a bunch of people aboard during the filling to make the boat sit lower in the water (thus it would fill higher). I wouldn't recommend either approach. Hope that helps. Ron Mehringer s/v Hydro-Therapy

Hold the stopper down

Sometimes I have filled my tank, and found later that it wasn't full. I always stay at the step and hold the stopper down and wait until the rush of air out of the vent hole stops. This way I know when the take is full. Russell Hudson s/v summer luvin'
