I'm debating whether to wax the boat now that it's laid up for the winter or wait until early spring before launch. When do you guys wax your boats?

Fall

Since our boat winters on the dry outside, it works well to wax it in the fall . . . and then it is ready early in the spring.

I agree with Jim. I wax in the fall.

This protects the boat from the winter weather here in the NW. I rewax the upper flat surfaces in the spring before launch. Ray S/V Speedy

wax

Hi Warren: I guess I am just a classic type "A", cause I do it in the fall and in the spring just before launch. We have the boat power washed when it is removed and put inside for storage, so most wax is washed off. Fall also gives me a chance to find any small scratches or chips that need repair. The spring waxing is easy as the boat is still fairly clean and no hard rubbing needed. The boat looks "Bristol" when we splash it in early May. Dave S/V Westwind

Wax?

I tend to "wax" in the Spring, prior to launch (two coats). I don't think it makes too much difference Fall or Spring. I recommend "Starbrite Marine Polish with Teflon". It goes on easy, cleans well and comes off easy...and it lasts all year. (Most "wax" type products will not last near as long.) I have had my O'Day 22 for 29 years, the topsides still look good! Good Luck!
