Wheel to Tiller

Last fall I purchased a "project" boat, a 1978 Oday 30 that had been sitting around for about four years, lots to do! The boat came with an aftermarket wheel pedestal which I have to remove to grind out & reinforce the floor, as this is a small cockpit I'd prefer to leave it off (anyone looking for a wheel assembly?)and return to thetiller. Which was the long winded way of getting to the point here,which is, does anyone haveor know where to get the throtle and shifter cables and levers to mount to the side wall in the cockpit (I can see where the original mounting hole was glassed over)? The boat also came sans boarding ladder, stern mounted four step swing up type, so same questions as above apply. Used would be preferred as like with mostprojects this one is getting more expensive than originally envisioned.Thanks, Frank

Frank:You might contact the engine manufacturer first. If they cannot help then there are companies out there who make these linkages for all types of engines. Try going to the internet and searching on boat throttle linkages.If you want used you can go to a marina and talk to the mechaic(s) and see if they have one laying around from where they intalled a pedistal.I agree that there are some nice advantages to a tiller. Not the least of which is improved cockpit room and an tiller master autopilot is much cheaper than an autohelm.Mike

Edson pedestal

Bob,It's an Edson system with autohelm,I'll be going out to the boat this weekend, I'll look for model # and take some measurments ie: wheel diameter, pedestal height etc.Mike, thanks for the tips Frank
