I have a 36" stainless wheel I am wanting to sale. I thought about ebay but then wondered how the heck you would ship it and at what cost. I live south of Dallas and the lake I sail at does not have a big sailing community. Most have smaller boats. I am not sure of the brand of the wheel or even the value. It came as an extra on my boat.

What would be the best way to try and sale this item.

You could try ebay with a pickup only added. Another option is a local chandlery that might be willing to put it on consignment. Put a flyer up on bulliten boards at marinas and clubs. Wheels are not cheap, but one does not usually need one, unless they want to go to a larger size.

If you don't know the brand at least take some measurements of the hub. Is it a straight hub or tapered etc. etc.?

You could use it in the kitchen for hanging cooking pots. Or hang it in the family room with lanterns on each spoke. ;)

Robert,
You can probably ship it via Greyhound. I had a bow rail for a C25 shipped from Las Vegas using Greyhound and they had no problem at all. The cost was quite reasonable also.

The shipping cost is not bad at all for fed ex or even better usps. The biggest factor with them is weight. I bet it wouldn't cost $15.
What kind of boat did you get Robert?

Just remember UPS and FedEX have a maximum package size of 108 liner inches for the length plus height plus depth IIRC. Also have extra charges for packages over 75 lbs.

Take some pictures of it, get all the important info...size, shaft type and size. then box it up and take it to a shipping place..ie. mailboxes or we ship it and have them give you a cost estimate to ship it. they don't charge for this. then you can list it on here or ebay and you will have a shipping cost.

Size won't matter for shipping purposes. Length plus width plus thickness won't be more than 80 inches before packaging.

Thanks for the suggestions. I have never been on Ebay and not sure how it works. I did not think about Greayhound. I used them a lot back in the day when I was rebuilding my MGB roadster. Cheap rates. Thanks for the reminder.

Hermit,
I sail a Hunter28.5. We wanted a C30 but it was not in the cards at the time. I do love my H28.5.
