I am the dealer in Chile of Hunter Marine. I have a customer owner of a Hunter 26 - 1997 and I like to replace the tiller for a whell steering. Please give me information about the method to install the wheel steering if is possible.
Edson is the leader in wheels. I have a wheel conversion on my H26 and I love it. There is a Edson office in So. America at 51-1-799-6220/799-5033 FAX 51-1-112350. They are probably on the internet too. Good luck.
I contacted Edson about 6 months ago and found out they no longer offer a conversion for the H26. I was told this was due to the shape of the cockpit, they had to do some "one off" fabrication and it wasn't cost justified. If anyone knows of another company that does wheel conversions I like to hear about them. Thanks Jim Covey
I have a Edison wheel steering kit on my boat and I think the only difference between it and their generic small boat wheel steering kit is that there is a 4 inch round fiberglass riser that is cut out on eather side to sit on top of the rib in the middle of the cockpit. I would ask Edison if they sell all these parts and you could cut it out yourself. The guy I talked to at Edison (I believe he is one of the guys who engineered the system for the H26) goes by the name Ed (I think).
