I have just purchased a C30. The rear lazerette (msp) has been glassed in to make a molded storage bin like the starboard. Is there any other way to access the wheel house? I need to adjust the steering cables. Thank you Ryan Ericson

steering access

Ryan... You can access the steering cables through the aft bunk. Slide in the aft bunk and look at the ceiling...you'll see a plastic 'drop-down' shield screwed to the ceiling...it's directly under the steering pedestal. Now look at the aft most wall of the bunk area and you'll see a wooden hatch about 1 foot by 2 feet that is also screwed in. If you unscrew and remove that hatch, you can access the steering cables and tighten them...I'm not positive if you need to remove the drop-down cover as well, but that's where your throttle cables and shifting cables run (if you ever need to access them). You'll have to crawl back pretty far, but you can access the cables from underneath. The only problem will be that the cables are attached via eye bolds and when you try to loosen the two locking nuts, the eye bolt will want to turn....I don't know if you'll be able to find a way to keep the eye bold from turning without access from above. You MAY want to consider cutting out the glassed in tub and returning the lazarette back to it's original design. I know there's lots of space under there, I can't imagine why someone would glass it in. My CNG tank is back there as well as an anchor + rode and extra lines etc. Good luck! Jim
