Here's one for you...my '08 just delivered, seems to have been made with the wheel somewhere around 5 degrees off the centerline..e.g. if the centerline of the boat is the stem of the letter "T" and the wheel the top, it is not perpendicular...QC problem or should I expect this in a production boat?? I don't thnk so...

Easy fix. Just take the bolts off the Quadant and re-do the wire-chain around the wheel shaft gear and then re-bolt wires to Quandant.

Rack & Pinion

It should have rack and pinion steering not cables for adjusting the wheel with the rudder.
Did you ask the dealer to make it right,my 07 H-36 there about two pages of corrections they had to make that were not done right from the factory, they make mistakes but that's the job of the dealer to correct any thing not done correct and if he says different call Hunter and don't take it until you are completely happy with your new boat.
Most dealers are very good at what they do and will willing make you happy,I had no problem correcting any thing I wanted done, they went above and beyond making me a happy buyer.

Re: Rack & Pinion

It is rack and pinion....and the out of square is looking down from above...I have notified my dealer to add this to my list, (which isn't too long!) so we'll hope for the best. Seems like a real challenge since the pedestal seems to be installed properly. Hopefully the cam the wheel is mounted on has some adjustment.

Wheel axis not square with CL

My 40.5 has the same problem. The port side is further forward than the starboard side. The boat had some damage from a storm under the PO but I have not found any mismatched components. I think it came from the factory that way.
What can I say, it ain't a Swan

Hi BruceK,

I have the same model as yours, I have align the wheel by removing the floor board in the cockpit area and you will abe to see the steering system. First, place the steering wheel in the centre, secondly centre the rudder's shaft by sight or align it by the tiller and then ajust the steering's rod. After that ajust the rudder sensor rod, untill is in the centre of the controller. Hope it will work for you. By the way Bruce, have you solve the outboard motor bracket problem, if not just write to me and I will post a pic. to you. rgs: Sonny
