Brutally hot here this year in Oklahoma. My lake is down 9 feet. I've had the rudder kick up 2 x the last time i was sailing. i'm only in 5 feet at the dock. Much more and I can't even get out of the marina. I'll bet I've only been able to go out 4 times this YEAR...

Lower Chesapeake Bay has had surprisngly good winds this summer, except for a few flat days. Winds still prevail out from the west, a growing phenomenom when they used to be out of the east. Maybe it's Obama's fault. Hey, at least we're not in Texas, where they don't even have water.

Here on Lake Ponchatrain, and over in Mississippi sound, seems like pretty close to normal breezes. Typical afternoon thunderstorms. But it has been hot, hot, hot.

Dry Hot and Still here in Indiana. Fall brings the best sailing.

Ken, what part of Indiana are you in? I grew up in Lafayette, only moved from there just a few years ago. Still have my car & insurance registered there as they charge property tax to own a car here.

Left Port Clyde at about 5:45 am to 2-4 knots and pea soup fog. Have about 50nm to go and hoping the wind kicks up a little cause it's a little lumpy but not enough wind for the sails to steady the boat much...

At the lake yesterday after posting above that we have had a breezy summer. Sitting at our hangout on "the Point" I was waiting for a leaf to move. So we ordered pizza(club doesn't open until 1500). After pizza I saw the flags barely moving so hopped on the boat. It had the feeling of "something is coming". Sure enough I sailed right into a heavy shower, temp dropped from 82 to 72. It felt good and I kept sailing until I heard thunder. I went back out after about a 90 minute storm just to dry the sails. At home, just 30 miles north it was sunny all day.
