I hate it when that happens. I've only done that once...so far.

For us trailer sailors, the more common mistake is to forget to put it on and have to drop the mast all over again.

No, its the halyard wrapped around the spreader. The windex is fine indicating a wind direction from Starboard. He chose to orient the markers towards the front and that is fine, your boat your choice. If it seems to be pointing down its probably the angle of the photo.

Perhaps..... Those of us in advancing years sometimes need a more obvious visual reminder of where we should be heading to sail as close to the wind as possible. I agree that it should work in that orientation as well as with the orange rectangles aft of the mast.

Yes, halyards wrapped around shrouds...but seems easily reverted. I'd have to guess that the owner was chastised by dock neighbors from the lines banging against the mast on a windy night? The windex markers are odd, but perhaps better viewed that way if there's a bimini installed?

I guess I've just never understood why anyone would actually need to use the windex legs anyway. I removed them from mine a long time ago and tossed them in the trash. perhaps the owner of that boat feels the same way I do.

Our Windex is absolutely indispensable! If we didn't have that little arrow pointing to where we want to go, how would we know where to go?

JUST ASK ANY POWERBOATER. They will most likely tell you !

Just as long as he does not try and use the windex at night and finds the reflective panels on the arrow's tail don't line up with the two indicator's reflective panels.

A friend of mine went up the mast and replaced my wind indicator. Unfortunately, he did not seat the markers correctly and now they fly around with the wind. Must look odd to others. Drives me nuts. Back up the mast.
