What's up with D&R Marine?

Anyone try calling D&R Marine lately? I've been trying them since last Thursday. The phone just rings and rings and then it rolls to voicemail. Today I got a "mailbox full, try later" message. Is Rudy on vacation or something?

He and wife Debbie are probably on vacation. Rudy makes up a lot of the orders himself right at the shop. He buys large quantities of sheet Teak plywood for instance and builds companionway drop boards for various size O'Day models in his woodworking shop. On the other side of the building where he keeps the sailboat hardware he has a long table where he makes up the standing rigging to be shipped out. That business is kind of a demanding job. I don't think I could ever do it six days a week. Every time I go down to his shop he's on the phone with a customer. If he is on vacation, you can bet it's a well deserved vacation.

I would wait a day or two and call him again.

I figured he was probably on vacation. Was just wondering if anyone knew for sure, or if his phone system was down. Oh well, my questions will just have to wait!

The downside to a "Mom & Pop" store! Rudy probably has a note/sign on the door to the Barn...... but that really doesn't help answer the phone! Like Joe, I marvel at the hours that Rudy does put in......he and Debbie deserve an occaisional vacation. It is just too bad that there is no easy way to let his loyal customers know when he will be back. Well, there is, I guess, but nothing that is practical for a little place like D&R that has a HUGE potential customer base!

I ordered some spreaders about two weeks ago and got them Monday. I remember last year about this time I ordered something and he was on vacation. Took a little longer.

Just saw a post on the Day Sailer forum that said Rudy is in the hospital. The poster said he will update if he gets more info.

I ordered something from him around the end of June. he saiod that he would be in hospital for four days and would ship my order on July 6 which he did. He is probably recovering from the epicode. have paitence as he is a gem of a person to do busioness with.

Of course. The original intent was not impatience, but rather concern for a genuine asset of all Oday owners here. On a positive note, I called yesterday and it appears they are back to normal. All is well.
