on my Kenyon mast. I need to move the spreaders tips up the shroud a couple of inches. What tools should I have on hand meaning how is the tip connected to the shroud?Scott
On my 1979 the shroud simply lies in a groove at the end of the spreader. There is a stainless strap, about 3" long, with a round headed bolt into tapped threads for each end. Can't remember for certain but I think a slotted head, not a philips. If I went up there I would take four screwdrivers and an equal number of wrenches, sizes 3/8" through 5/8".
I find that it does not matter what the project is up the mast you will never have the right tools the first time I rig a bucket on a small line and lower it to the deck to have the crew add the additional tools needed. Fair winds.
I've got a 78, and I pulled and painted the mast last spring--including taking all the hardware off of it. I'm almost certain you need a flathead and something to cut the tape that tightens the boots. And you'll need more tape to water-seal them again. I'm not sure exactly what the type of tape is called, but someone else should know.
