I don't know at what point an anchor becomes too heavy, except for storing it and raising it. I do know that an anchor can be too light.

I would think that it is more than what would likely be recommended for a boat like yours, but it likely wouldn't be too much. Depending on how much chain you have, it could get a little heave to haul in especially if you anchor in 30'+. Also it could look out of place on your boat as CQR's have a long shank. If you're buying it used ask if you can try it befor you buy it.

If you would like to "sleep good" overnight it can't be to heavy :) I have a 25lb. Delta with 50 feet of chain on my C30, I sleep like a baby now.

Anchor weight........

I have a 27' Catalina. I anchor in south Florida, in the Indian River. Most of the time I'm in 6-10' of water. I user a 22lb. Bruce 3 pronged anchor (up to 1,350lb holding strength). I use 50' of 5/16" chain with 40' of 5/8" anchor line. that gives me a scope of 10 to 1 in 10' of water. We get thunderstorms in the summer with winds up to 70mph. I also put a 13lb. mushroom anchor about 5' from the end of the chain closest to the boat. I stick 3' of chain sticking out of the main chain and attach the mushroom anchor. That keeps the chain on the bottom in calm seas and puts a bow in the line when when the seas kick up. I also attach 2'-4'ft. pieces of chain on the main chain to keep the chain on the bottom. I haven't moved one inch since I've had this setup......
