I'm in the process of cleaning up and waxing deck and c/p, I've spent a lot of time topside so now more fun.

What is the nonskid made of? (I have an Oday 26, but I'm sure most are same). Is it gellcoat of a different color that gets waxed? It seems to be somewhat rubber-like, in which case I need some other UV inhibitor.

Who knows?

I'm pretty sure it's just gelcoat. The non-skid on my 22 was (until I grinded it off and repainted). Don't have a clue as to why it'd feel rubbery though.

The nonskid on our 26 is just gel coat. I had to fix the core under the mast step, and when I took the top skin off, I found that the white in between the non kid was a very thin layer that must have been sprayed on the mold first, and then the bulk of the thickness of the gel coat layer was the blue-gray color of the nonskid.

What to protect with

Well, I examined closer and it's not a rubbery surface, but rather gelcoat as you helpful people have pointed out.

Gelcoat has to be protected, what is everyone using for UV protection. I've always used Island Girl.

What's your method?
