We have been looking at a boat that was leftnear ours and it will be for sale soon. My Husband I realy like this boat and were thinking of investigating it further. The name on the side is North Star numbers on the metal plate on the rear is NS1000-31 someone stated it was a Hughes 1/2 ton but I have not found any information on this type of boat on the internet or anywhere else. If you can tell be more about this please contact me. The boat seems to be a blue water boat and rigged for racing but that's all we can tell at this point. Thanks for your information if anyone has some. from "Good Times" April

I found a Hughes North Star

on www.yachtworld.com. I did a search for Hughes and found a boat called a North Star 500 for sale. Nice lines. The search turned up 21 hits. I've attached the link, don't know if it will work though. Good Luck!

Looks like it was designed to old IOR specs, no? Cute boat, though. LaDonna

Canadian Built Hughes Northstar 1000

April, I have included a link to the history of the Hughes (Canadian) boat factory, including the model (1/2 ton, 31' sloop) you are interested in. There are quite a few still sailing in Ontario. I have been in contact with the son of the builder and the moulds still exist. These were well built boats, and many won races in there day, including the 500 (1/4 ton) and the 1500. Many have stood the test of time. Good luck with your purchase. Don

Used to live on Bayou Liberty, old rose plantation, had a wonderful time over there. Ray's Bullpen was the best!!! Is "Second Story Lounge" still there?
