Much obliged! :)

Seems that there was some dewatering going on there. The dull finish on the cabin sole and the stained cushions might be a clue.

Seeing what the hose is connected to in the bilge should give you a clue. Looks like some water intrusion. If the bilge pump is wired to a float switch then it must be an ongoing problem with that jeri rigged setup. Maybe check around the stuffing box/shaft log for signs of leaks.

that would depend on how long the water was in there and if it was fresh or salt both have there draw backs fresh left for long periods will rot the wood ...salt will ca road the metal parts and you may have some mold and mildew depending again on how long the water exposure was ...if it was a short time submerged you will be OK given that it is aired out a let dry

I read your other post asking if you should get a survey......but you already bought this boat?. It may be that the bilge pump is busted and they just rigged this up as temporary. Maybe look inside of the under seat storage areas where it's not gelcoated for waterline marks to see if it was partially submerged.

You had mentioned in your prior post that you were looking at a 2004 Hunter 33.
If the boat you are looking at is the one listed in Florida, then the pictures appears to indicate a lot of water damage and the price is certainly reflective of some major issues.
Be careful.......

That obviously looks like a temporary rig so it may due to a one time event. The cabinet and the cushion do show like there was water intrusion up to a fairly high level and they connected that hose to pump it out. The cabinet and the cushion blemishes are cosmetic but the water that invaded the engine compartment could have caused some damage and perhaps be the cause for future problems. Find out what happened and when it happened and how and when it was corrected. Salt water intrusion is more damaging than fresh water. If it was quickly detected and corrected will be less of a future problem than if it was allowed to linger for some time. A lot of water could be the result of a large leak or the result of a slow leak allowed to run for a long time. Is this a dealer boat or an absentee owners boat? Who pumped the water out? The fact that hose was left there with the settee porthole open and no attempt to clean the cushions tends to indicate it may be an ongoing problem. If you are buying and do not get clear answers walk away. In any instance make sure you get a survey and point this out to the surveyor. I could not clearly tell from the picture if the stains on the cushion are from water rising that high or from water that may have leaked down as it was being pumped but it could be inferred from the setup that the water level rose pretty high. Just check the sole level to the inside of the engine compartment.

that cushion looks like where some jacka## created a lot of traffic on it.... the one in front doesn't look like i has been hurt and from the dark pic of the hall way i can't see a water mark of any kind

Thanks, guys. I really appreciate the input. I love sailing and my dream is to have my own boat but as days go by, I'm getting more and more discouraged :(

Buy this boat and get working on it.

Pull it out and put it in a dry area and start dismantling the area where the spill seems to be more obvious. Post pictures as you progress.

Thank you for the supporting words and the faith. Unfortunately, I became very emotional with the whole boat buying process and I shouldn't have. I'm still very much excited about being a first-time boat buyer and look forward to a successful purchase...

I'll keep you posted and definitely will post photos as soon as I can.
