Hi Peggy, What is your current opinion on which brand of hose is best for marine head discharge? Regards, Ken

Don't heat it to bend it, Ed...

For two reasons: you'll destroy the outer "skin" that makes it odor-proof, and hose that's made to go around a tighter bend than it wants to can collapse if it's weakened by heating. Cut the hose and use inline radius fittings to go around tight bends...SeaLand sells 'em. Although, the only parts you can't get from from any plumbing supply for 1/3 the price are the hose barbs. Call SeaLand (800-321-9886) and ask 'em to fax you the fittings page from their "Retail Products Guide"...figure out how many 90s and how many 45s you'll need...then take the page to the plumbing supply to make sure you get the ones with a female connection on both ends and order the number of hose barbs you'll need from SeaLand. It'll be a pain, but a lot easier than trying to do it the wrong way.

Good idea Peggy.

I'll be very interested in their catalog. My only serious bend is where it comes out of the bulkhead and then goes up onto the vented-loop. Can I have a right-angle out of the vented-loop and not have a flush problem?

I wouldn't come directly out of the vented loop

with a right angle...if for no other reason, it kinda defeats the purpose of having a vented loop. Drop back down to the level of the discharge and then insert your 90 to go through the bulkhead. That's a fairly typical installation, in fact.

A thousand words.

This picture illustrates my plight. If I right angle off the vented-loop it eliminates one more low spot. It is not downhill all the way because the tank is in the center v-berth. It is the hose that goes out to the left in the picture.
