I have a 15 foot Spindrift Rascal. Today was my last sail of the season. When I am sailing close hauled in 10 mph wind I hear a humming sound while boat travel through the water. What is that humming sound coming from

Yes tge centerboard.vibrating makes sense. There is no cable just an uphaul line. I tried to attach downhaul line but groove on forward side of centerboard is too shallow and line get hung up. I depend on weight of centerboard to lower boat as my sail speed picks up I imagine the centerboard is being retracted by forward movement

Your boat is singing while doing it's happy dance. It becomes addicting after a while. You kind of miss it when it's gone.

However, if you want to get rid of it, loosen your centerboard line

I used to race on a flying tiger 10-meter.
When we would get it up on a plane with the spinnaker, it had quite the hum.
For us, that was the sound of speed and quite pleasant.

Reminds me of a Neil Diamond lyric .. "...like a guitar humming..." I don't think he was singing about a centerboard ...
