Just bought a 84 222 special anniversary edition, Its my first sailboat, needs a fair amount of work. But I'm falling in love with this boat!. Does anyone know whats different about this Special Edition Model? Thanks Mark
Hi. Not much is different. In fact, probably nothing. (I have a "Special Edition" 28, but it it is a 1985 hull number) I think it may have just been different color apholstry inside (Is your's blue with white spots?) and it was the forst year O'day used translucent hatches and companionway washboards(Smoked plexiglass) on their boats. It is mostly just a flashy 50th annerversary nameplate.-BM
I have an '84 222 with an '84 hull date, but no designation regarding an anniversary edition. We bought it this year, and it still has the original plaid upholstery (soon to be replaced), not the blue. Other than that, we seem to have just about every option that was listed in the brochure. We also have the plexi hatch boards. It's a fun boat.
