Does anyone know the name of the silver piece (aluminum I think) that is about 3" X 4" located on the mast, just above the gooseneck. It has a single screw that holds it against the mast preventing the mainsail slides from sliding down and out of the mast track. Mine has gone missing and will need to order a replacement. Thanks.

Easy and Hard Question

On an Isomat mast the part name is a "Sail Track Gate NG II" ("English Description" as translated from French), and the "Ref." number is 157007. This is for a late 1980s to early 1990s mast. Other manufacturers may call their parts by a different name (that's the hard part). The thumb screw with a plastic knob that holds it to the mast is called a "Screw 4 x 10" which I'm positive is the metric dimensions of the threaded end, 4mm dia x 10mm long. The Isomat Ref. number is 921606. For the interim, knowing the tread diameter, you might be able to rig up a temporary solution. I guess that's a sailors term - "rig up"? If you have an Isomat mast I hope this helps.

Mast Gate I believe. A Stop is a device that .

sits in the track, has a thumb screw through it that when tightened, locks the Stop in place and prevents the slides from dropping below the stop.

Yes, it is called a mainsail gate. With the help of your posts and some measurements at the mast I was able to order the replacement part through Sail-Rite, in R.I.. Then, a friend decided to look around the ground in the boat yard and in 2 minutes she found the missing gate and 30 sec. later found the thumb screw to go with it! "Why didn't you just look around...?" Good question.
