vite = fast (in French)

There are many I see around named Aquavit after the liqueur, but not us.

Thanks for all the suggestions on naming The Journey's dinghy! There were quite a few good ones!

I love the stories of how people named their boats! Personally, I think I put more thought and energy in naming my own boat then I did my 2 kids!

Mine is Act III.
My first career (act) was in Theatre, my second in teaching Theatre, and my third is RETIREMENT!!!!! on my 40 O'Day doing the loop!!

My first boat was named 'OCD' short for obsessive compulsive disorder because I was always obsessing over getting the most out of it, and would get it on the lake as soon as enough ice melted to float. One spring she got knocked down in a gust, I knew I was in trouble when the slushy water started to feel toasty warm. Luckily someone saw me and hauled me onto a jet ski. Was never so happy to see a water skeeter

First bigger boat was named blown away 2 when I got her, was looking for a new name, but friends convinced me to simply drop the 2 as I've always been a drifter blown away on the wind

Current boat is Airen (soul mate/perfect love/lover) for a couple of reasons, one for the meaning, and one because it is phonetically identical to my favorite girlfriends name.

What's in a Name

My name is Marc, (M) My wife is Jane (J) and our dog who always sails with us is Sailor (S) so we started out naming our boat MJS. We got some pushback from our 3 adult children Seth, (S) Stacey (S) and Sarah (S) so we modified the name to MJS4 (4 is supposed to be superscript)
