I called during business hours on Friday to order a part and was, abruptly, told by a gentleman that they preferred all orders be faxed. That's fine, but I was in my car on cell phone and the website welcomes calling or faxing orders. He then took my info, and upon asking him the cost of the part (wasn't listed on site), he responded that he had no idea because he just worked for an answering service. I could tell he didn't know squat about sailing or anything boat related. Now, my concerns are....1) how do I know they got the order if they don't accept phonecalls? 2) I don't like ordering something without being told the price. 3) I don't like faxing my credit card number to vendors. 4) I sure don't like giving my credit card number to an answering service employee. Seems like a slipshod way of doing business to me.

I had a great experience

A few weeks ago, I called RigRite about a couple of parts, and they too asked if I could fax the order. I told them I could not, and the gal took the order over the phone. Later in the day, a second person called me back to confirm the order, and gave me the prices, and two days later, I had my parts. I was concerned because of all the posts about the strange way they do business, but it worked well for me!

I had the same experience that both of you had. They like fax orders so that they can price it out and fax you back. That way it is in writing and there can't be any disputes. I got my order in a few days. It was really expensive, but they had the parts and shipped fast.

Got a call today....

from a very nice lady there, and she did confirm they'd received the order. $34 for an aluminum outhaul sheave, a bit pricy, but where else can you go? My suggestion to them is to edit their website and state "fax all orders", and fire the answering service and answer their own calls. They need to know that the answering service people are a little abrupt and unfriendly, and are not representing their company well. Ordered from them last year and got the part very quickly....no problem.
