I ordered a Harken reefing system from Sailnet about a month ago (great price), received a confirmation that they're processing my order - since when nothing. There's no record of the order when I link to the order progress page on their site. Their telephone doesn't seem to answer. I've emailed them and received no reply. Something seems wrong!! Dick

Better call your credit card company and close out the transaction.

Jim(NJ): Not sure how to break this to you but the people you should be supporting is sailboatowners.com!! Sailboatowners.com provided you with a forum to support their competition. They are more courtious than I. Phil and Bly have been supporting sailors since their inception - without a hitch and deserve better. Where are your manners? Sam & Cheryl had their chance and some how they blew it. That puts them at the back of the pack. Lets see how they recover after having screwed all the people who placed orders with them, which they accepted, all the while knowing full well they were going down. Personally, I would not give either of them the time of day. Please post my response over on sailjazz - see if it makes the cut!

There has not been much activity for some time

There has been very little traffic on these other mail lists for sometime now. It appears that HOW is where it is Happening! We usually have more traffice in a day than these other lists have in a month.

Sailboatowners.com is an excellent resource

While I won't comment on the demise of sailnet.com and who was ultimately responsible, I will echo Don's sentiments regarding the value of this site. This is a top-notch web-site, and the participants and moderators/owners do a great job. I started visiting this site shortly after buying my boat several years ago, and I got a ton of information on the boat, boat projects, sailing techniques, trailering, etc. by monitoring the site regularly. Some recent feedback saved me several hundred dollars on a new engine. I continue to benefit from the discussion and forums, which is why I visit the site on a regular basis. My complements and thanks to the staff on providing an excellent resource for sailors. Best regards, Dave s/v Hakuna Matata O'Day 222

Thanks for the info

Jim: checked the link. It couldn't be clearer. They're out of business, in bankruptcy. Don: I couldn't find a Harken reefing system on sailboatowners. I agree with everything you and others have said about this site, and they'd be my first choice. (Bought your book and charts here!) This is an invaluable source of info to me, and I visit every day I'm on my computer. They really deserve our support. Rob: I cancelled out the order with my cc company. Interestingly, the charge hadn't gone through yet. FYI: the lowest price I found was at pyacht.com, so I've ordered from them. Hope it goes better than my last attempt. Thanks again to everyone. Dick

pyacht is a good company and they're quite solid. :) This fall we'll be greatly expanding the product lines in the chandlery here so we'll be able to supply requests like this.

Glad to see you're expanding

Phil: good to see the chandlery branching out; this site is always my first stop, not just for advice and gab, but also for products. If I'm not going to buy it at my local store, I look here first. Unfortunately, most of the stuff I have been looking for isn't carried here. I hope it will be in the future.
