Dungeness Crab feast.
Both my wife and I are also divers. When we get ambitious, we would take our scuba gears with us during a long cruise, especially up to Canada. Scuba is also useful when we are up in Desolation Sound, to check or set the anchor while we are down. Here is a cute story. We were up north, eating crab about every other night, either from diving, or using a crab trap. After about 2 weeks of crab dinner, crab cocktail, crab omelet, Crab Louie, we were a bit OD-ed on crab, so I decide that the next time we dive, we would only keep the really really big jumbo ones. Then we went diving for the one last time. While we were down, we saw a group of really nice ones, and I do mean really nice ones. I picked one up, showed it to my wife, and she shook her head. I took that to mean “this guy is just not big enough.” We then came across another one, even bigger, and my wife shook her head again. When that happened for the 3rd time, I thought “oh heck, this is such a nice one, I am going to keep this one………and that one………and that one, and ok, that should do it.”When we got back on the boat, she was a bit peeved, and said “Why did you pick up all those crabs? I am just so sick of eating them, and I don’t want anymore of them.” Well, with my tail between my legs, I threw all of them back in, and swore to learn sign language so we can talk under water. That was many years ago, now we eat them in moderation only. I learned my lesson.
